Member economic participation is the cornerstone for developing a new food co-op. A little from a lot of people who desire a small local grocery store that emphasizes natural and local foods will make our vision of opening doors on our brand new grocery store by 2011 a reality.
The countdown is now on to raise $100,000 in membership equity funds by February, 2010! This is phase 1 of our membership drive.
Raising member start-up capital is the first step. With this foundation our finance committee can take our business plan to the bank to seek the rest of the capital we need. Another way to invest is through our member loan program (currently under development.)
The benefits of membership in a food co-op are many. They could include a discount at the register, annual patronage refund checks when the co-op is profitable, discounts at other businesses, member appreciation coupons, voting rights, and more.
To make your one-time capital investment of $200 (proposed one-time member fee) with the Co-op Market, just send a check or money order with a self-addressed stamped envelope to:
FAIRBANKS COMMUNITY COOPERATIVE MARKET

The link to “www.FairbanksCoop.org” on this page is incorrect.
It is missing the “g” in .org
Thanks; it’s fixed now.
A couple of notes on this page… The link to Beverly McClintock goes to a broken link (no dot org) and the one about Jean’s article goes to a page showing some of her instruments for sale. Didn’t notice an article on the harvest fair.
Beverly McClintock’s link was created by her, so I’m not sure why she did this. You’re right, it doesn’t go anywhere. Jean is listed in two posts as a musician, and I don’t see anything about an article she wrote. The link merely goes to one of her music pages.

I bought a t-shirt from you folks at the winter show!
I wondered if I could do $100/mo times two months for the membership?
I am thinking I could learn more about gardening, too through you folks?
I am going to volunteer to call for memberships (had another email to answer.
