Minutes from 1/15 meeting

January 17, 2009 By coopmarket 1 Comment

Present at this meeting were Dave Lacey, Rob Leach and Lela Ryterski.

Agenda
New Business:
1. Business Plan. We need to flesh out the plan, which is in progress. It needs to set goals for the next 5 years; identify our suppliers; working capital needs (what will it cost to stock the shelves?) What will our labor costs be? (checkers, stockers, managers, etc). Contact local grocers union. We want to pay decent wages.

2. Jen Landry’s offer. She offered to pay for the person who does her web site (Robin’s Song) to do ours. We accepted her offer.

Old Business:
A) Board Members. We are posting openings for new Board Members on the website and Blog. These are interim Board Members. We would like three more committed people.

B) Annual Meeting. No one was there from the Committee to report.

C) Legal Aid. Nelson Traverso’s name was mentioned to contact. Haven’t heard about John Connors or Nicole’s sister-in-law.

D) Store Design. Rob is heading this committee. He thinks that he, with the people who expressed interest in making this happen, we may not have to look outside for help.

E) Member Loan Campaign. Dave will send out slides from the “webinar.”

F) E-mail. Constant Contact is working. Mary Christiansen is handling it so far, and is willing to carry the cost and train someone to take over. Dave will take the ball if no one else steps up.

G) Set next meeting date. We set the date for the 2nd Thursday of February–Feb. 12th.

Delta food producers contacted Dave about us coming to their meeting the end of February. They want us to do a presentation for them. They’re excited about our new market. Dave is planning to attend.

Re: Root cellars–we can work with local producers to help get funding.

We need to put a fire under the committees to keep the momentum going, and get help/expertise from our members. The existing Committees and members are as follows:

Communication/Outreach Committee deals with fundraising, Annual Meeting planning and member relations, etc. (Cora Kelley, Helen McLean, Jackie Sunnyboy and Nicole Pearce).

Local Producers Committee to outreach to possible suppliers and write up agreements (Hans Geier).

Store Design Committee (Rob Leach, Rob Garrison, Gary Currington, Jeremaih Miller).

Business Plan Committee (Dave Lacey).
