The Oldies Show, Saturday at 9 pm on KUAC, will be dedicated to Doctor Dave, who was the host of “Dave’s Country Cavalcaade” and “Dave’s Hootenanny” shows. Dermot Cole has written a short piece about him in today’s column.
Addendum: the memorial shows will start with Any Old Time at 7 pm and go all evening through the Oldies Show. Dave was instrumental in starting these radio shows.
And from Doug Yates comes this news:
David Guttenberg shares the loss of Dave Lacey. He asks Dave’s friends and associates to send him stories and anecdotes of Dave’s life. He’ll draw on these to create a legislative honorarium. Please share this request with others whose lives were touched by Dave. Share your remembrance of Dave’s work, play and/or spiritual connection by sending it to: rep.david.guttenberg@legis.state.ak.us.
I met David in Tulsa where I married him on September 29, 1973. Then, we moved to Tucson and I shared a memory filled w/love, humor, sadness, confusion and happiness w/”my walking encyclopedia”. I never told him this but I guess I can share it now. I really tried to get most of our food from the Co-op. One day after work, I was really in a hurry so instead of going to the co-op, I ran to Safeway, bought some hellman’s mayo and put it in the co-op jar. As I said, this secret stayed with me until today.
