Yesterday, Dave Lacey died, after a long time living with illness. He has been a driving force in founding the Fairbanks Community Cooperative Market and his optimism and persistence have helped immensely in bringing us to this point.
Thanks, Dave. We’ll keep up the good fight.

I’ll miss you Dave.
I had no idea that he was still ill. He was in good spirits, and the night of the fundraiser he practically beamed he was so happy, surrounded by good Fairbanksans and the rustic music of his home.
It was Dave’s dream more than anyone else to get this food co-op going-to give Fairbanksans a choice, and to give farmer’s a chance to connect with their neighbors.
I regret that I haven’t been as involved as I’d like to have been in this project. Now that its main proponent is gone, I’ll be there, in Dave’s memory and to help fill the big shoes that he left behind in this needed endeavor. I’ve always known that this cooperative is needed by the Fairbanks community, but this loss has highlighted for me the fact that we are all needed to make this thing work.
Have a good trip north my friend.
Garrison
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Dave’s passing through my ex-husband. I lived in Alaska, mainly Fairbanks, for 17 years and have known Dave since 1981. We shared good times skiing, boating, dancing, comparing gardens (including the guerilla variety), and involvement with the Interior Native community.
Please accept my donation in memory of Dave Lacey to help keep his last of many progressive concepts moving forward.
Thank you for your donation to the food co-op. I’m sure Dave thanks you. He treasured all his friends.
