FCCM Minutes for June 25, 2009

Present were Jenny Cady, Mary Christensen, Rob Leach, Linette Torres, Don Barry, Sharon Alden, and Lela Ryterski

The June 11th minutes were read and accepted.

Rob has Founding Member Ticket #1. He suggested we reserve that as Dave Lacey’s.

Jenny mentioned connecting with the new senior development opening in the area.

TREASURER’S Report: Sharon reported that we have almost $7,000. Pay Pal is being used. $200 memberships are coming in. Rob thinks only one person should use the debit card.

COMMUNICATIONS: Mary reported the Annual Meeting update—potluck, music, dance performances. Lela working on letter to the members. Sue working on layout for fliers, etc. Fliers will be ready at the next Communications meeting . Fundraising items bought (stainless steel water bottles, chico bags). Working on T-shirts and calendar. Rob came up with “Locally Grown Under the Midnight Sun”. No turkey this year. We should do a newspaper announcement for Volunteer Day July 12th.

Planning tables at the Salcha Fair, 4th of July Parade in Ester, Golden Days, Tanana Fair.

STORE DESIGN: Rob will have a blueprint for the First Annual Meeting.

PRODUCT SELECTION: We sent out a survey to the founding members.

FINANCE: Hans is out of town.

HEALTH AND WELLNESS: Ian Olson is interested in helping.

LOCAL PRODUCERS/VENDOR SELECTION: Nothing new.

BUSINESS PLAN: Robert Sullivan can’t help.

OPERATIONS: Need volunteers. Cassidy Saunders is interested in doing a bakery for us.

VOLUNTEER DAY: Sunday, July 12th from noon to 5p.m. Pot luck. Open house. We will call people at a Communications meeting. Rob will set up the paperwork for sign ups to different committees and organize how to do inventory. Sharon will talk to Joel’s Place for volunteers.

MARKETING BUDGET: Mary motioned to approve $2,000 out of our current account, and $8,000 out of our fundraising efforts until November 15th for a total budget of $10,000. Sharon seconded the motion. It passed .

LOCAL PRODUCERS BUDGET: Mary motioned to allow Jerry Wackers $1,000 to use as he sees fit. Sharon seconded the motion. Discussion ensued. It passed.

FARMERS MARKET: Rob and Hans attended the Market’s Board Meeting on June 17th. They don’t feel that we’re in competition. They would like to use the Foodland building for their Christmas Bazaar. They’re also interested in a commercial kitchen.

John Bachner agreed to have the event in exchange for clean up. No cost for the Farmers Market if they volunteer to clean. The toilets are not working right now. That needs to be addressed as well.

DELTA FARM TOUR: will be on Tuesday, July 14th. Meet in Delta at 9a.m.

NEXT COMMUNICATIONS MEETING will be Tuesday, June 30th at 6:30pm at Mary’s.

NEXT BOARD MEETING will be on Thursday, July 9th at 6pm at the Foodland site.
