It’s time to vote! Owners in good standing* are invited to vote in our current Board of Directors election. This year’s ballot includes the election of one director, confirmation of two others, and a proposed amendment to the co-op’s Bylaws.
Email ballots will go out on the afternoon of September 19th to Owners with current email addresses on file. For Owners with no email address, paper ballots will be mailed to the street address listed in our database.

*To be considered “in good standing,” Owners must either have paid off their full $200 investment or have paid at least $5 toward their investment during the preceding quarter.
The Board of Directors is the governing body for the Owners of Co-op Market. It is composed of nine people, all Owners of Co-op Market, elected by Owners. Elections are held every year in the Fall. Board terms are 3 years. The board is responsible for ensuring organizational performance on behalf of all of Co-op Market Owners.
The board’s work includes developing clearly stated expectations through written policies; delegating responsibility for, and authority over, the achievement of stated objectives; and monitoring compliance with written policies. The current board has been focusing on three big concerns:
- More Happy People
- More Local Economy
- More Healthy Food
The board governs the organization and delegates all operational duties to one employee, the general manager. We are involved in strategic planning, financial oversight, ownership linkage, and community outreach.
The Board of Directors does not make decisions about, become involved with, or take part in any of the day-to-day activities or decisions regarding the operation of Co-op Market. The board’s sole official connection to the operations of the cooperative is through the general manager.
The board meets the second Monday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Literacy Council/Forget-Me-Not Books on Gaffney Road. These meetings are open to all Owners. You can reach the board by emailing email@example.com.
NOTE: The November 2019 meeting location has been changed to the Fairbanks Community Food Bank, 725 26th Avenue. The meeting agenda is available here.
