2022 Board of Directors Election
Our annual Board of Directors Election starts Friday, March 25th. This year, we have four seats up for election and one appointed director up for confirmation.
CLICK HERE for a copy of the paper ballot with candidate information.
As of February 28th, when we pulled the database, we had 4880 Owners. Of those, 3572 were in good standing and eligible to vote. We must receive ballots from 10% of our eligible Owners for our election to be valid, and so this year we will need votes from at least 357 Owners.
As in the past, Owners will have a choice of two ways to vote: by electronic ballot or by paper ballot.
- Email invitations with links to the electronic ballot will go out on Friday morning. The email will come from Kristin Summerlin, Co-op Market Election Coordinator, with the address noreply@directvote.net.
- We’ll mail paper ballots to those who don’t have an email address on file. We’ll also make the paper ballot available in the store.
We’ll announce the election results at our virtual Annual Owners Meeting on April 23rd. We’ll post more information on the meeting soon.
The Board of Directors is the governing body for the Owners of Co-op Market. It is composed of seven people, all Owners of Co-op Market, elected by Owners. Elections are held every year. Board terms are 3 years. The board is responsible for ensuring organizational performance on behalf of all of Co-op Market Owners.
The board’s work includes developing clearly stated expectations through written policies; delegating responsibility for, and authority over, the achievement of stated objectives; and monitoring compliance with written policies. The current board has been focusing on three big concerns:
- More Happy People
- More Local Economy
- More Healthy Food
The board governs the organization and delegates all operational duties to one employee, the general manager. We are involved in strategic planning, financial oversight, ownership linkage, and community outreach.
The Board of Directors does not make decisions about, become involved with, or take part in any of the day-to-day activities or decisions regarding the operation of Co-op Market. The board’s sole official connection to the operations of the cooperative is through the general manager.
The board meets at 6 p.m. on the third Monday of the month via Zoom.
The meeting ID is 213 748 0408. You can access the meeting via this link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/2137480408.
For more information, you can contact the board by email.
